Diamond Wedding of Jack and Evelyn Walker

Jack and Evelyn Walker celebrated their Diamond Wedding on 31 July 2023. Deputy Lieutenant Sue Jardine Paterson delivered a card from King Charles III and Queen Camilla and a basket of flowers was presented by Councillor Andy Chan on behalf of Provost Xander McDade and Perth & Kinross Council.Evelyn was originally from Stonehaven and grew up in the farming community. She moved to Newton Mearns when her father bought a farm there. Jack lived with his parents in the neighbouring farm and a romance blossomed between them. They were married in Newton Mearns Kirk on the 31st July 1963. Following a few years in East Kilbride, Jack and Evelyn moved to Perth with their young family, for Jack’s work with Clachan Construction. They have lived in the same house for 49 years, have three children: John, Lorna and Diane and seven grandchildren. They enjoy going to church, attending the accordion club, spending time with friends and family.
