Glenys Andrews presented with her BEM Medal

Through her voluntary work as President of Perthshire Open Studios, Glenys Andrews has been recognised with a British Empire Medal for her commitment to the Arts in Perth and Kinross. As a former Director of Education, Glenys has always believed in the power of the arts to enable personal expression, and attain a sense of achievement. She sees art and artists as an enriching, binding and healing ‘force for good’ in society, and works to bring them into the heart of her community. Perthshire Open Studios is now in its 14th year – an annual nine-day event, held in September, involving more than 200 artists and makers, of all sorts, across Perthshire, Kinross-shire and other neighbouring counties. Thousands of visitors and district residents gain entry to larger venues, and artists’ homes, to experience the artistic process. These remarkable, creative people open their workspaces to art clubs, collectives and individuals, coming together to exhibit their work. This gives the public a rare opportunity to see a huge range of artistic creations in multiple media.
