Wedding Anniversary Message from His Majesty The King

The King’s Telegram

The delivery of Wedding Anniversary messages is arranged by the Anniversaries Office at Buckingham Palace, continuing a tradition which goes back to 1917. The King’s congratulatory telegram is sent to those celebrating their Diamond (60th), Sapphire (65th) and Platinum (70th) wedding anniversaries and every year thereafter.  A card containing a personalised message comes in a special envelope. To make sure that a message is sent for wedding anniversaries, an application needs to be made by the couple, a relative or friend, in advance of the special day.

Please apply no more than 5 weeks prior to the anniversary date.

Only current citizens of Commonwealth realms (countries where The King is Head of State) or UK Overseas Territories are eligible to receive messages.

If you have the original marriage certificate, you can either apply online apply.royal.uk/Apply/ or download a Wedding Anniversary Application Form and apply by post.

If you do not have the original marriage certificate, and can answer yes to all three questions:

Did the marriage take place in Scotland?

Are the couple resident in the UK?

Is it less than 3 weeks before the event?

Then an application can be made via the National Records for Scotland by completing a Royal Anniversary Message Application Form and emailing it to Telegrams@nrscotland.gov.uk Please note that incomplete information may cause a delay in processing your request. An automatic acknowledgement email will be sent to your inbox. If you do not receive it, check your spam filter, then contact us on 0131 314 4488 or email Telegrams@nrscotland.gov.uk We will verify the details using our records, and pass the information directly to the Anniversaries Office at Buckingham Palace. The Anniversaries Office at Buckingham Palace will confirm to you that the Royal Anniversary Message will be delivered.

Otherwise, visit the Buckingham Palace website or contact the Anniversaries Office at Buckingham Palace on 020 7930 4832.
