Queen’s Green Canopy

Primary 5 pupils at Letham Primary School planted 6 trees for the Queen’s Green Canopy and undertook nature and outdoor activities during Covid. Deputy Lieutenant Alex Cairncross joined them for morning assembly to present them with a commemorative oak plaque and to chat to them about their planting.

Deputy Lieutenant Alex Cairncross helped to plant 4 Ash trees at Netherton Church, in the foothills of Glenshee, as part of the Queen’s Green Canopy.

Perth and Kinross Countryside Trust are currently running an project ‘A Tree for Every Child in Perthshire’. Pupils from Our Lady’s Primary School have taken part in 3 educational tutorials about the importance of trees and their care, and yesterday planted trees at Perth Crematorium. The Rotary Club of Perth has transformed the landscaping around Cornhill Macmillan Centre. Overgrown shrubbery has been cut back and replaced with grass to reveal the views across Perth which patients can now enjoy from the new decking outside their rooms. 15 trees have been planted for the Queen’s Green Canopy. The Everett Family have planted 750 trees in conjunction with The Woodland Trust’s MOREwoods scheme for The Queen’s Green Canopy. Staff from Perth & Kinross Countryside Trust helped with the planting. If you have half a hectare of land why not consider participating in the scheme?
