Rodney and Rena Duncan – Sapphire Wedding Anniversary

On 9 August, Rodney and Rena Duncan celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. Deputy Lieutenant Jeffy Erskine surprised the couple with an anniversary card from King Charles and Queen Camilla, and Councillor Richard Watters delivered a basket of flowers on behalf of The Provost and Perth & Kinross Council.

Rodney and Rena both grew up in Kinross, where they still live. They met at a local dance and ‘stepped out together’ before marrying at The Bridgend Hotel in Kinross on 9 August 1958.

Rodney and Rena worked hard to provide for their four children: Susan, Jim, Catherine and Carol. Rodney worked at Todd and Duncan woollen mill as a manager and safety officer, for over 30 years, before redundancy in the 1990’s. Rena worked at Geordie Hearts, a local clothing and haberdashery shop. After becoming a mother, she juggled cleaning and waitressing jobs while taking care of the family.

Rodney and Rena are keen golfers, playing three times per week, either together or with friends. Rena asl enjoys gardening and spends a lot of time planting, tidying and bringing colour to the garden.

They are at their happiest when they have their family around them including their six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
